DKM’s roots run deep in dirt racing. Dave Constantino and Eric Mack started working on race cars in their early teens for their neighbor, “The Cyclone” Maynard Forrette, driver of the Queen’s Machine 78M.
Before they were old enough to drive, they were assembling cars, scaling them and testing engines on Maynard’s dyno. Because they were so young and running with the top names in the sport, people started calling them the “Damn Kids,” and that’s how DKM got its name. Maynard is no longer with us, but his influence is in everything we build.
Dave earned his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and his master’s at Union College. Along the way, he and Eric noticed that the cars of the day performed differently from one frame to the next, and they believed they could build a more consistent car.
Both of them have driven. Dave has many sportsman wins and track championships, plus two modified wins at Fonda Speedway. Eric won at Albany-Saratoga Speedway and then went on to crew chief for Stewart Friesen, where the two had a lot of success together.
DKM was an early pioneer in using CNC machines to make race car bodies on a large scale, and for years we quietly supplied bodies to many of the top builders and teams. From there, Dave left his engineering job at GE, and the two went all in on designing a better car from the ground up, in-house.
That car is the DKM Cyclone Chassis. Today we build chassis, bodies and parts out of our shop in Hagaman, NY, and we’re here to help you go faster.
